Book bounce? Palin's favorables up

According to a new CNN poll (pdf), Sarah Palin's favorable rating is at its highest since May 2009.

46% of registered voters have a favorable opinion of Palin, while 46% have an unfavorable opinion of her.

In CNN's last poll (October 16-18), 42% viewed her favorably while 51% thought ill of her. That means a modest bump for Palin as she's in the midst of her media blitz.

Palin's popularity within the GOP continues to be strong (80%), but there's a gender gap within the party -- men like her more than women, which hurts the CW that Palin can pull in more female voters (even within her own party).

CNN's polling director, Keating Holland.

"Even within GOP circles, Republican men like Palin more than Republican women do. John McCain put Palin on his ticket in 2008 to appeal to female voters, but it looks like men are a natural constituency for her."
