Cheney: Why would I want to run?

Dick Cheney talks Sarah Palin, himself, and 2012 with Politico.

Re: Palin:

“I like her, personally. ... She’s charming, engaging. She’s got as much right to be out there as anybody else. Will she be a candidate at some point? How would she do as a candidate? Those are all questions that only time will tell.”

Re: the Draft Cheney for Prez movement:

“Why would I want to do that? It’s been a hell of a tour. I’ve loved it. I have no aspirations for further office.”

But those are probably the two least important extracts from the interview.

As for the rest -- it's not surprising that Cheney hits the President hard on his foreign policy. What is surprising is that the former VP bows to the critics who see a bow as a statement of humiliation rather than respect.

“Here’s a guy without much experience, who campaigned against much of what we put in place ... and who now travels around the world apologizing. I think our adversaries — especially when that’s preceded by a deep bow ... — see that as a sign of weakness.”

When you include the bow stuff in an otherwise legitimate critique of foreign policy, it's time to check the car radio and see which AM station you're on.
