Talk-show host, Simon Conway, interviewed Charlie Crist today and pulled a commitment to a radio debate on Florida's 540 WFLA, featuring listener questions between the Governor and Marco Rubio.
Audio and Conway's recap here. The date is TBD.
Note: Crist urges inclusion of former NH Sen. Bob Smith, whose presence in the race could help his cause (i.e. siphon conservative votes from Rubio).
The exchange happens near the end of the mp3 chat -- about 14 minutes in -- but the whole thing's interesting, including stimulus, cap-and-trade, and health care talk.
CONWAY: We are prepared to put on a special debate program on this station on questions solely coming from the audience. I challenged former speaker Marco Rubio to come in here and to take those questions directly from our listeners. I'm challenging you to do the same thing, Governor -- he said 'yes' by the way -- will you be prepared to come in and talk directly to the people of the I-4 corridor to take questions in a debate with Marco Rubio?
CRIST: I'd be more than happy to do so, but I think you ought [to] include Senator Bob Smith. I think that would only be appropriate to have all three of us.
CONWAY: Absolutely.
CRIST: And [Democratic candidate] Maurice [Ferre] and [Democratic candidate Kendrick] Meek, too.
CONWAY: So you are agreeing to do that, if we can get everybody together?
CRIST: I'd be more than happy to do that.
