Huckabee: "Obama spoke like a President"

On his show this weekend, Mike Huckabee had a refreshingly non-partisan take on Barack Obama's speech in Oslo.

Barack Obama spoke like a president this week and, just as importantly, he didn't speak words that his audience necessarily wanted to hear. Some of his critics said his speech was no different than a speech that George W. Bush would have given.

It may be that when it comes to standing against the evil of radical Islamic jihad terrorism, the truth is the truth. What President Obama said showed insight into the reality of the threat we face with Islamic terrorists; and what he said showed courage and clarity.

It's always nice when the Right gives the Left just due, and vice-versa. For example, George W. Bush's work on Africa was noted by some liberal outlets, but many entirely ignored it until his Presidency was winding down.

As a personal anecdote -- growing up, I was told very early on (about 5 years-old) that there were such things as "honest liberals". The ones my Mom most often referred to were Mark Shields and Mort Kondracke.

Besides those guys, I don't think there were any others. But at least I knew Mark Shields was an honest liberal before hitting first grade.
