This isn't a very sexy story, since it involves projecting numbers into projected years.
But if the budget swami's have it right, the timing would be pretty inconvenient for Tim Pawlenty.
The AP:
A new economic forecast shows Minnesota facing a $1.2 billion deficit through mid-2011, and a $5.4 billion deficit in the following two-year budget cycle.
The projections are contained in briefing papers prepared by state budget officials and seen by The Associated Press.
.... The figure sets the stage for another budget showdown between Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty and the Democratic-controlled Legislature. They have repeatedly clashed over spending cuts and attempts to raise taxes, which Pawlenty has resisted.
Of course, the upside is that T-Paw could have a chance to polish his conservative creds in the anticipated "budget showdown".
He could then make the (quite accurate) claim that Huck, Mitt, and Sarah have had the benefit of being free agents during Team America's wilderness years.
UPDATE: Speaking of which, this just in.
