Public Policy Polling releases new polls (pdf) on hypothetical 2012 primary contests in Florida and Colorado.
FLORIDA:
1. Mitt Romney 52%
2. Mike Huckabee 21%
3. Sarah Palin 18%
COLORADO:
1. Mitt Romney 44%
2. Sarah Palin 25%
3. Mike Huckabee 17%
Breaking down the Florida results:
a. Romney holds leads of 28% or more among self-described conservative, liberal, and moderate Republicans.
b. Among women, Romney leads Huck by 21% and Palin by 32%. Interestingly enough, Palin does better among men than women. Among the dudes, she picks up 21% of the vote, but among the gals she only gets 15%.
c. Here's the interesting one: Huck trounces Palin and Romney among the 18-29 yr old set (45%/18%/9%, respectively). In fact, Mitt's 9% is pretty anemic. But Romney routs the rest in the other demos, particularly among senior citizens.
Breaking down the Colorado results:
a. Romney wins solid margins among self-described liberal, moderate, and conservative Republicans (although his lead over Palin is just 8% in the latter category).
a. Romney also wins among both men and women, although his margins are smaller (albeit still double-digit).
b. Unlike in FL, Romney wins the 18-29 yr old set, as well as every other age group in the state.
Pollster Tom Jensen notes that Sarah Palin hasn't led in any of the six states the group has polled in the last month:
The six states we've looked at provide good news for Romney, ok news for Huckabee, and perhaps an indication that while Republican voters like Sarah Palin they aren't too into her as their 2012 nominee.
