Meg Whitman: Business doesn't "have the luxury of raising money from their customers"

It's a helluva line for calling on gov't to cut taxes and fire state employees.

Some budget stuff from the AP on CA:

The emerging plan to address California's deficit raises the gas tax, sales tax and others to generate $14 billion, cuts education, health and other state programs by $15 billion and relies on $11 billion in borrowing.

Ms. Whitman:

"I was stunned by the magnitude and the nature of the tax increases. What is wrong about it in my view is that the state has done virtually nothing to cut costs in the bureaucracy."

Dan Walters gets quote for the day, wondering "why anyone would want to be governor of an arguably ungovernable state?"

Meg Whitman and Barack Obama will have to get back to you on that.
