Romney on Obama: "He's chosen good people"

From Mitt Romney's Late Edition interview, January 4, 2009.

On Gaza:

"Why in the world did Israel allow the rockets to be blasted into Israel year after year.... without any military response?"

on Obama's national security team:

"I think you have to be pretty encouraged, if you're a conservative. Hillary does have experience and she has some perspective with regards to foreign policy..... and General Jones and of course continuing with Secretary Gates is very, very encouraging."

on Obama's economic team:

"There are some very good people there. I'm very pleased with the person that's going to be running Treasury.... I'm very hopeful..... he's chosen good people."

on Obama's economic stimulus package:

"Let's not make this a Christmas tree of all of the favors for various politicians who've helped out the Obama campaign..... let's do what's right for the economy."

on the Auto Bailout:

"The answer for what's necessary for the industry is pretty straight forward. The question is whether management and the unions will actually take the necessary action. And the only way that they're going to do that is if they realize they don't have any alternative. And when government is willing to write checks and bail them out and continue the status quo, they're just funding a continuation of the decline of the industry. You're going to have to stand up to the UAW and to management, and say 'these are the changes that have to happen'."

Other notes:

-he declines to endorse an RNC candidate
-mentions Sanford, Jindal, and Barbour as leaders of party
-indicates he will continue fundraising for conservative candidates across the country
