RNC member backs out of anti-Sanford rally

UPDATE: Democrats deny the charge that Barack Obama's Organizing for America is also behind the rally.

Today Democrats are rallying at the South Carolina state capitol to press for Mark Sanford's ouster.

But yesterday, the man behind the event -- a Republican -- changed his mind.

The Charlotte Observer:

Republican National Committee member Glenn McCall said Wednesday he's satisfied that legislators have gotten involved enough in calling for Sanford's resignation that he doesn't need to push Thursday's rally.

He had called for the rally in an effort to force Sanford to step down after he revealed his affair with woman in Argentina that he later called his "soul mate."
