Biomed Center championed by Jindal breaks ground

2theadvocate:

On the one-year anniversary of his inauguration, Gov. Bobby Jindal on Wednesday helped break ground for Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s $25 million expansion to usher in what he called the state’s “new economy.”

Although budgets are being cut at state colleges and in health care, Jindal has protected LSU’s Pennington and helped direct a large chunk of surplus dollars toward the nutrition and preventive medicine center on Perkins Road.

Take the above added emphasis + the below added emphasis, and what do you get?

“In essence, this is a new cylinder in the economic engine that is Pennington,” said Jindal, who grew up near Pennington in the Kenilworth area and briefly conducted research there while in college.

The project started 5 years ago, long before Gov. Jindal became Gov. Jindal; so by any reasonable standard, it appears innocent enough. But it's something Democrats might use -- along with those recent "Buy Local" psa's -- to start building chinks in Jindal's formidable, ethical armor.
