Huntsman flexes foreign policy muscle

The Mountain West Governors are butting into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"The recent increase in hostilities between Israel and Hamas is evidence that lasting peace in the region is an elusive goal," the governors said in a statement released Friday. "The deaths of innocent civilians on both sides of the border as a result of the hostilities are proof that we must continue to work toward peace, rather than resolving our disputes through aggression."

Signed, the Governors of Utah, Wyoming, Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado.

This is great, because when you voted for Huntsman or Otter, I'm sure you were looking for leadership on Middle East issues.

But since they're so willing, maybe they could come up with some preconditions and meet with Iran, so our President doesn't have to. Or they could tour some nuclear facilities in North Korea and wear name badges saying "Hello, we are Mountain West Governors". Perhaps they could parachute into the rugged terrain on the India/Pakistan border, infiltrate local tribes, and gather intelligence leading to the capture, conviction, and execution of Osama Bin Laden.

Because that's what you expected when you voted for Bill Vitter.
