The Hill: "Cantor must rebrand Republicans"

Molly Hooper reports on Virginia Congressman and minority whip Eric Cantor's new, un-whippish role: articulating a persuasive message and rebranding the Republican party.

Traditionally, Whips cajole in back corners to accomplish their ends. But with House Republicans rarer than Protestants in a Mormon temple's Celestial Room these days, the 45 year old Cantor must pick his battles carefully, and when waging them, win.

Illinois Republican Don Manzullo:

“What Eric’s role is, is to establish policy and to present to the American people the new brand of young Republicans.... When you’re in the minority, there’s not too much whipping to do because you’re getting whipped all the time.”
