Pawlenty tells GOP to give Obama "a lot of latitude"

Today, on MSNBC, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty urged Republicans to join the spirit of the inauguration.

"It's important for all of us to come together, whether Republican or Democrat. [By other Republican governors coming to the inauguration] it sends a message: Hey, look, we're in this together. We need to give him a lot of latitude. He wants to be forward-looking, forward-leaning, and we should give him some space in that regard."

No video of the appearance yet -- but we'll put it up once it becomes available. You have to appreciate the sentiment, and kudos to Pawlenty for joining the spirit of the week, but urging "a lot of latitude" is a bit of a shot at Congressional Republicans, who are faced with the difficult task of determining how much latitude they can afford politically and ideologically.
