"We want Mickey," whines Florida to Crist

Yesterday, we reported on Florida Governor Charlie Crist's effort to secure loans at rock-bottom interest rates for small business owners. The idea: help businesses grow, so they can hire employees and contribute to economic revitalization.

Today, some Florida lawmakers are singing a sour note (think "It's a small world" in A minor), as it becomes clear that funds would have to be reallocated from the state's tourism agency,"Visit Florida". Apparently, Mickey Mouse is a proven money-maker and needs his supply of cheese kept constant.

But Republican Mike Fasano says Mickey can suck it:

"Why not help the small businesses in our community that want to expand and are looking to hire people? 'Visit Florida' doesn't create jobs."
