Detroit paper reluctantly praises Corker

Considering Tennessee Senator Bob Corker's stand against the auto bailout, this is high praise indeed.

Daniel Howes of the Detroit News:

Fourth, Detroit's automakers have a better story to tell about their present and future than their tormenters in Washington can appreciate. That only one -- namely Tennessee Republican Bob Corker -- bothered to attend the show suggests how interested they are in understanding the responsible progress under way in Detroit.

Face time with your enemies. Don't underestimate its conciliatory powers*.

*does not apply to Iran. Maybe Russia. But definitely not Iran.
