Corker outdraws 2012 candidates

Maybe we need to add another name to the list for 2012. You can read MSNBC's profile on the rising star that is Tennessee Senator Bob Corker here.

But it's MLive.com that's got today's buzz:

In advance of U.S. Sen. Bob Corker's arrival at the Detroit auto show this afternoon, national and local media were already hyping the Tennessee Republican's appearance as a showdown....

Corker's arrival stirred the media into an absolute frenzy. They -- well, we -- stormed to Corker's side to hear why he had come and to hear his thoughts on the industry. At one point, auto show security were literally pushing and shoving journalists who were gathered around Corker conducting interviews.

I'll tell you that it was substantially more hectic than when Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and John McCain showed up at the show in 2008 on the eve of the Michigan primary.

(Ea.) Of course, you could make the argument this is purely bailout-issue stuff; therefore, the burning hot issue. But you'd imagine the eve of the Michigan primary would have drawn some interest too, no?
